Gourd (Gikiri)
Function: Container

3 gourds used for milk, water and porridge traditionally made by men and are grown on the shamba. Lids are known as KIAU.

(a) Large gourd - 2.5 ft high including lid, with bits of allluminium pounded in to mend a circular crack towards the base, (b) Smaller gourd 1'5" width lid of aliminium. Top made of gourd finished with leather rim held in place with thorns, (c) Newer gourd - with very long 2'1" - Black paint around rim.
